The Adams County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Jail Ministry and Project Connect, held the first-ever baptism ceremony inside the Adams County Jail on Saturday, August 23, 2025. A total of nine individuals voluntarily participated and were baptized.
“This milestone reflects our shared belief that accountability and redemption can go hand in hand,” said Sheriff Daniel Mawhorr.
The service was organized and led by members of the Jail Ministry, with logistical support from Project Connect and jail staff. Security protocols and facility procedures were followed throughout the event to ensure the safety and dignity of all participants.
Chief Deputy Eric Beer said, “Seeing nine men and women make this public profession of faith was deeply meaningful. We’re grateful to our Jail Ministry volunteers and Project Connect for helping create a safe, respectful opportunity for personal transformation.”
Project Connect, which supports successful reentry and connections to community resources, assisted with coordination and follow-up. “Moments like this can be a turning point,” said Rob Parker. “We’re committed to walking alongside participants as they take their next steps.”
The Sheriff’s Office plans to continue collaborating with community partners to offer evidence-informed programs that support rehabilitation, restoration, and safer communities.
