The Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) recently awarded Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) a grant for recruiting mentors in Adams County. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a community-based program that recruits, screens, and trains adult volunteers to mentor children who are experiencing difficulties such as living in poverty, being from single parent homes, having challenging or strained family relations, or children who have academic or behavioral problems.
BBBS organization has several different program options where a mentor can sign up to meet with their match for a monthly casual outing, an hour once a week at the child’s school, to providing more intensive support and guidance for education planning and successful transition into adulthood. Through these diversified programs, BBBS is committed to nurturing and empowering mentor-mentee connections that pave the way for a brighter future for our youth.
