Although Kevin Hackman will be exiting the City of Decatur’s clerk-treasurer post on May 9, a Hackman will remain in the office.
Eran Hackman was chosen by an Adams County Republican caucus on Wednesday to assume the position.
Kevin Hackman announced in late April that he has accepted a position as the Fort Wayne division manager with EJ Prescott Inc., a water, wastewater, & stormwater distributor.

He was in his second year in the city post, having replaced long-time clerk-treasurer Phyllis Whitright at the start of 2023 after being elected the previous November.
“I’m honored to be selected as the next City of Decatur Clerk-Treasurer,” Eran Hackman told WZBD.com. “I’m looking forward to getting started and will do the job to the best of my ability. It will be an honor to serve the City of Decatur.”
Eran Hackman, who has a Bachelor’s degree in business from Ball State U., currently serves as chief deputy recorder for Adams County.
She will join Wendi Gephart and Cherie Bienz, deputy clerk-treasurers, in the City Hall office.
Eran and her husband, Dan, have five children and seven grandchildren.
Her parents are JoAnn and Bill Karbach of Decatur. Bill is a former building code enforcement office for the city.
