A bad problem can sometimes be a good problem … but a bad problem nonetheless.
At a recent meeting of Decatur City Council, veteran councilman Matt Dyer pointed out that the city “needs to address” the problem of items blowing from the recycling drop-off site at the city’s public works location on Elm St.
Dyer said the considerable amount of recycling “is a good problem to have,” but it is creating bad problems for residents of the area where the drop-off site is located.

Mayor Dan Rickord remarked that there have been discussions about erecting a fence at the site.
It was agreed to address the issue.
At that meeting, city council and the city board of works took the following actions:
* Accepted bids for street materials from Fleming Excavating, Brooks Construction, Wayne Asphalt, and Stone-Street.
* A lease approval for Northeast Indiana Works at the MERIT Center was approved. The cost is $2,598,75 as the lease charge was raised from $5 a square food to $5.25.
* Mayor Dan Rickord appointed Dave Hill as the North Adams School Board’s representative to the city’s redevelopment commission.
