Warmer temperatures are welcomed by almost everyone this time of year, but the warming temperatures are actually harmful to the gravel roads in Adams County. The thawing of the gravel roads can damage the roads, and county highway crews can’t do much about them at this time because of the weather conditions. WZBD’s Ed Thurman spoke about the issue with Adams County Highway Superintendent Brad Yoder about why this happens and how they can deal with the problem…
Yoder says once the weather becomes consistently warmer, then work can take place on the gravel roads to improve them. Until then, take caution when traveling on local gravel roads.
