The once-dilapidated Faurote building in downtown Decatur has a new look.
New windows have been installed on both the first and second floors of the structure and a new front door is in place.
The front facade was reframed earlier.
Electrical, plumbing and HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) work is now being done in the building, according to Curt Witte, the city’s building/zoning superintendent.

Limberlost Construction of Geneva is doing the work.
The city has signed a lease agreement with the Adams County Economic Development Corp., which, upon completion of the restoration, will take possession of the two-story structure and relocate its offices.
The ACEDC will lease a small portion in the rear of the building to the city, which plans to use it for much-needed storage.
The city obtained a state READI grant of $290,000 to use for renovation of the building and the ACEDC, through its own funds and some private donations, is picking up the tab for the rest of the cost.
