Give Decatur City Attorney Anne Razo credit for “hanging tough.”
Razo was too ill to attend the February 4 meetings of city council and the board of works at City Hall. But she stood by on a phone hookup, answering all questions and providing legal advice – sometimes having to pause to cough – through the meetings which consumed nearly 90 minutes.

It was a reminder of Razo’s first-ever meetings as city attorney in January of 2023 … which she had to miss due to illness.
Also at the meetings:
* Pothole season has arrived and filling them is underway, city Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert told council.
To report a pothole, call 724-3356, Gilbert said.
* Absolutely no controlled burns are allowed within the city limits, Fire Chief Jeff Sheets said.
* This year’s Root Township fire contract was approved by the board of works. The contract had been approved earlier by the township’s board.
The township pays $25,124.48.
* Karey Fuelling, superintendent of the wastewater treatment plant, was given the okay to put two vehicles up for auction.
A 1991 Bobcat and a 1995 Ford dump truck “are no longer needed (having been replaced),” Fuelling said. The vehicles will be part of a March auction by Krueckeberg Auction & Realty.
