Sip a little of your favorite wine while painting?
Wine & Canvas is a relatively new thing which is growing in popularity and could be coming to the MERIT Center in Decatur.
Councilwoman Abby Wilder told city council at its latest meeting that Patti Hogg, events coordinator at the Dayton Ave. multi-use center, has a number of different classes there and was wondering if a Wine & Canvas class could be added.
At question, of course, is the use of alcohol, and whether city council would approve.

Wilder said such a class might be a way to bring some people together, “maybe a way to get some people in there (city-owned MERIT Center) who have not been there before.”
Councilman Scott Murray he would like to see some guidelines established before a decision is made.
“If we can work out some guidelines, I’d be for it,” Councilman Matt Dyer added.
The MERIT Center board expressed no opposition to the Wine & Canvas idea, it was noted.
HAD REQUESTS: Hogg told WZBD.com that she has had some requests to begin such a class at the MERIT Center (former Northwest School).
The MERIT coordinator noted that she wanted to determine if council would approve before going any further with the idea.
