The county wide burn ban in Adams County has been lifted. Significant rain on Tuesday helped to ease the dry conditions that had led the County Commissioners to issue the burn ban two weeks ago. Again, the ban on open burning in Adams County has been lifted thanks to significant rainfall in the past couple of days.
Emergency repairs will be made as soon as possible after a traffic accident last week severely damaged the concrete side rails on the bridge on Adams County Road 100 South between 500 and 600 East. County Engineer Nate Rumschlag received permission from the County Commissioners Wednesday to skip the formal bidding process so that emergency repairs can be made on the bridge. After receiving permission from the Commissioners on the emergency funding process, Rumschlag said he will get a contractor to begin repairs as soon as possible and says with favorable weather, the repairs can be completed on the bridge by Thanksgiving.
The commissioners also gave permission to Sheriff Dan Mawhorr to use unrestricted opioid settlement funds to purchase two new drones for the Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Mawhorr said one drone that he’ll purchase with the funds is a small one that can be used indoors if needed, while the second will be much larger for outdoor use. Once the drones are purchased and personnel are trained, Sheriff’s deputies will be able to use the new drones by early spring.
