Most of the Five Points intersection in Decatur was reopening today (Friday), city Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert announced.
Utility replacement work on the sections of Second St., Mercer Ave and Winchester St. has been completed.

The only exception is Adams St., between First and Second streets, and between Third and Fourth streets.
Those sections will remain closed for a week or two while the remaining work is completed.
Gilbert also said that two old, existing water valves that are still hooked to Adams St. are leaking in the intersection. That situation will be remedied once the project is completed, Gilbert added.
All the work should be completed prior to the Oct. 28 Callithumpian Parade, he noted.
