The Decatur Fire Department is “going to do something a little different” at its annual Open House scheduled for this week, Chief Jeff Sheets said at a recent city council meeting.
An oversized doll house will be burned to show how a fire can develop and how to be protected.
The event will be held 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the city fire station, 206 S. Seventh St.
Visitors will be able to get a close-up look at the fire trucks, various equipment and talk to firefighters.
Weather permitting, Lutheran Air’s helicopter will land around 6:30.
