Constance (Connie) Joan Nichter, 92, of Bluffton passed away on Monday morning, September 9, 2024, at Story Pointe – West, in Fort Wayne, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Murray, IN on June 12, 1932, to Dwight and Bernice Clowser. She grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated from North Side High School. She married Ralph Nichter on April 7, 1951. Together they had seven children, all of whom survive. Her husband of 65 years died in 2016. Her children are William Nichter, James (Carolyn) Nichter, Michael (Janice) Nichter, Robert (Janet) Nichter, all of Fort Wayne, Diane (Robert) Kimmel of Columbia City, Kathleen (Randy) Birch of Bluffton, and Carolyn (Terry) Frye of Sharpsburg, GA. She has ten grandchildren and two great-grandsons and a great-granddaughter on the way. She has one sibling, Robert Clowser, and two nephews, Wade and Dale Clowser, all of Auburn.
Connie was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bluffton. She worked for several years for the Bluffton News-Banner selling advertising. Her hobbies were bowling and crocheting, but she was talented at crafts of all kinds. Connie was a fun-loving person whose motto was, “The family that plays together stays together.”
Mass of Christian Burial Mass will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, (Sept. 13, 2024) at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father David Violi celebrating mass. Visitation will take place starting at 10 A.M. on Friday, prior to mass at the church. A family burial will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.
Memorials my be made to Eleos Hospice in Fort Wayne or to St. Joseph Catholic Church, and can be directed to the funeral home.
