All City of Decatur offices will be closed next Monday in observance of Labor Day.
Trash and recycling collections will be pushed back one day, with Monday’s regular pickups taken Tuesday, Tuesday’s on Wednesday, etc.
Friday’s collection will be done on Saturday.
HEAVY TRASH: The city’s second and final heavy trash collection of 2024 is scheduled for Monday through Friday, Sept. 9-13.
The heavy items will be collected on the normal schedule for the collection of trash. In the event of an unusually large number of items, city employees could run behind schedule, officials have noted.
Local residents are asked to have their heavy items at curbside by 7 a.m. on their collection day.
Items that will not be picked up are home improvement materials, carpeting, appliances with Freon, and electronics.
