The annual Festival of the Kekionga kicks off in Decatur Friday, beginning a three-day run in Riverside Park, the open area behind Riverside Center.
Another feature will be Decatur Artisan Craft Market scheduled for Saturday inside Riverside Center, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This is a special addition to the craft market season which begins Oct. 12. The craft markets will be held the second Saturday of each month at Riverside Center, through April.

The Decatur Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the event along with Decatur Main Street and the City of Decatur, listed the following schedule for the Kekionga Festival:
Friday, August 23rd
9:00 am – 2 pm – Education Day – This event is open to all public, private and home school students. (Riverside Park & Riverside Center
4:00 pm – Encampment opens to the public – Riverside Center
7:00 pm – Cookie Stick – Pioneer Village
Saturday, August 24th
9:00 am – Encampment opens to the public
Black Powder Gun Shoot – Pioneer Village
9:00 am -6 pm – Tomahawk & Knife Throw Demonstration – Pioneer Village
