Diane Marie Thane, 70, of Berne passed over to her heavenly eternal home Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, at 4 a.m. at Woodcrest Nursing Facility in Decatur. She was born March 4, 1954, in Cass City, Michigan to Garth J. and Betty (Herrington) Thane.
She lived most of her life in Caro and then in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She moved to Indiana in 2006 to be near her family in Geneva. She moved to Berne in 2013. She was a 1972 graduate of Caro High School in Caro, Michigan. She worked at various clerical and accounting positions with employment in Caro and then Ann Arbor, Michigan. She had a love for dogs and cats and felt a close relationship with nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She had a lifelong love of reading. Her Christian faith was of primary importance. After moving to Berne, she became a close friend to her apartment neighbor William “Bill” Hatfield whom she assisted with needs in transportation and other services. They together enjoyed church activities and friends from the area.
She is survived by her brother, Larry (Janet) Thane; and sister, Kay (William) Munger; sister-in-law, Nancy Thane; five nephews; one niece; four great-nephews; and two great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Robert and Kevin Thane.
Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 17 from 10-11:30 a.m. immediately followed by the funeral service at Mount Hope Church, 5005 E. 500 S., Berne. Officiating will be Rev. Dave Cox.
Memorials may be made to the immediate family for use for final expenses.
