Rickey L. Swygart, 76, of Geneva, IN, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Van Wert Manor in Van Wert, Ohio. Rickey was born on August 29, 1947, in Berne, IN, to the late Max and Wilda Mae (Wall) Swygart. On November 26, 1977, he married Rebecca “Ruth” (Bauman) Swygart. She survives.
He attended Parkway High School, worked at the Berne Hi-Way Hatchery, and Operated his own business, R&R Trash Removal.
Rickey was self-employed; he was a jack of all trades who worked hard his whole life. He also loved to garden and tinker around. Rickey served as a Corporal in the US Army.
He is survived by his children, Rickey Shannon Swygart of Scottsville, KY, Anthony Shane Swygart of Scottsville, KY, Shanti (Dan) Miller of Convoy, OH, Sunita Winchester of Ft. Wayne, IN, Shane Swygart of Ft. Wayne, IN and Shad Swygart of Geneva, IN; siblings, Ronnie Swygart of Berne, IN, Kuba Jean (Phil) Pollard of Berne, IN, Randy (Janet) Swygart of Willshire, OH and Roderick (Dee) Swygart of Decatur, IN; 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 2 on the way.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Reggie Swygart.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 1655 East 350 South, Monroe, IN 46772. A Memorial Service will take place from 4:00-4:30 p.m. with a time of sharing. Military Graveside Rites by American Legion Post #43 will immediately follow the memorial service. After the Legion, a Celebration of Life Fellowship time will conclude the afternoon.
Memorial contributions may be given through the Funeral Home to Honor Flight Northeast Indiana.
