Shirley Ellen Ellenberger, 80, of Greenfield, IN, formerly of Geneva, IN passed away at 1:25 PM on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on Sunday, September 12, 1943, in Union City, IN. She married Jerome Ellenberger on Sunday, August 30, 1959, in Geneva, IN. Shirley was a graduate of Geneva High School. She had worked at the Ben Franklin Dime Store in Geneva, Nusbaum Novelty in Berne and for Franklin Electric, Bluffton, IN for 26 and a half years. She was a member of Franklin Electric Retired Ladies Group in Bluffton. Shirley attended the First Missionary Church in Berne. She enjoyed crafts and flowers.

Shirley will be forever missed by her husband – Jerome Henry Ellenberger, Greenfield, IN, daughters – Ronda S. Todd, Ossian, IN, Lynette D. (Brad) Johnson, Greenfield, IN, grandchildren – Joshua Todd, Ossian, IN, Andy Todd, Ossian, IN, Jesicca Todd, Albion, IN, Kristina Todd, Ossian, IN, Taylor Herman, Uniondale, Megan Bluhm, Decatur, IN, Christopher Herman, Woodburn, IN, Kegan Johnson, Greenfield, IN, and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father – Wilber Day, mother – Madeline (Mendenhall) Day, son – Brian L. Ellenberger, and sister – Dorothy Teeter.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St. Geneva, IN on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 08:00 PM.
A service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be at the First Missionary Church, 950 US 27 South, Berne, IN at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, with pastor Dathen Foust officiating.
Interment will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery in Geneva.
Arrangements are being handled by Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva.
