The MERIT Center in Decatur has announced that it is hiring a part-time learning center coordinator.
Applications are now being accepted, Community Coordinator Jamie Gephart said in a news release.
The learning center coordinator will:
* Organize and schedule training classes and events at the MERIT Center.
* Monitor and provide on-site support.
* Manage the budget, materials, services and other resources available.
* Report to the MERIT Center board.
More details are available at: www.decaturin.org
People wishing to apply should send a resume to Gephart: jgephart@decaturin.org
Abby Wilder, a member of Decatur City Council, said at the council’s May 7 meeting that the learning center coordinator would work 15 hours a week at $15 per hour. The position is expected to eventually become self-sufficient through various fees.
Wilder has been working with the MERIT Board to put together the particulars of the position.
Wilder, Gephart and Adams Public Library System Director Kelly Ehinger form a committee which will interview applicants. Their recommendation will go to city council for approval.
“If it needs to grow, this (coordinator position) is needed,” Councilwoman Jenny Bowers-Shultz said at the May 7 meeting.
“It’s needed, definitely needed,” Mayor Dan Rickord added.
