Helen J. McDonald, 81, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Adams Memorial Hospital. Helen was born in Decatur on April 25, 1942, to the late Carl W. and Mildred R. (Johnson) Elliott.
Helen was a member of First Baptist Church. She worked as a waitress at the Rhinelander, Richards Restaurants, 11th Frame Lounge at Villa Lanes and was the bar manager at the Elks Lodge, and the Knights of Columbus Hall. Helen was an avid bowler and golfer.

Helen is survived by her 2 children, Joyce (Michael) Hamilton of Decatur and Brian (Kris) McDonald of Ossian; 2 brothers, James Elliott of New Haven, and Max (Linda) Elliott of Ft. Wayne; 2 sisters, Beverly (James) Riley of PA and Phylliss Brunner of Decatur; a sister-in-law, Susan Elliott of Decatur; 2 grandchildren, Drake Hamilton of Decatur, and Lynae (Collin) Laley of Ossian and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Elliott.
Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2023 at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with Pastor Whitney West officiating. Visitation will be prior to services from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Woodcrest Porter Auditorium and from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
Burial will be at a later date in Decatur Cemetery.
