Erin Heyerly has been appointed Utilities Clerk for the City of Decatur by Mayor Dan Rickord, he announced at Tuesday night’s meeting of city council.
Heyerly (photo) assumes the position currently held by Kevin Hackman, who, in November, was elected unopposed to become the city’s clerk-treasurer, replacing Phyllis Whitright.
Heyerly will be returning to the department in which she began employment with the city.
She was hired in April of 2015 as a clerk in the utilities department. Then, in late 2018, Erin transitioned to the building and zoning department as the office administrator. So, beginning January 1, it’s back to the utilities department.

“I’m very excited and thankful for the opportunity to take on this responsibility,” the 1997 Bellmont High School grad told WZBD.com.
Erin and her husband, Nathan, are the parents of two children: Luke, 15, a sophomore at Bellmont, and Jenna, 11, a sixth grader at St. Joseph School.
Nathan is a foreman and heavy equipment operator with Fleming Excavating.
