Thelma E. Gerardot, 82, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Adams Heritage in Monroeville surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 31, 1941 in Convoy, Ohio to the late Roy and Marie (Fegley) Gaskill.
On August 30, 1958, Thelma married Dennis J. Gerardot at St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon and he preceded her in death on October 15, 2004.
She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville, Indiana and served in the Monroeville Fire Department Auxiliary.
Thelma was a lifelong homemaker and babysitter to many of her grandchildren.
Thelma enjoyed bike riding and watching her grandchildren play baseball and basketball. In her spare time country music and bingo provided her with pleasure…and some frustration!
She is survived by her son, Jeffery (Dawn) Gerardot of Leo, Indiana; son, Roger (Laure) Gerardot of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Brian (Tammy) Gerardot of New Haven, Indiana; son, Matthew (Deb) Gerardot of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Becky (Mark) Johnson of Monroeville, Indiana; sister, Janice Decker of Van Wert, Ohio; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Thelma was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline K. Gerardot; grandson, Kyle Gerardot; and sisters, Shirley Exline and Patty Marquardt.
A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2023, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville, Indiana with Father Dennis DeBenedetto. Burial will follow at St. Rose Catholic Cemetery in Monroeville.
The Holy Rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville.
Family and friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday following the Rosary at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Riley Children’s Hospital, Stillwater Hospice or Masses to the church.
