Roxanne (Wilder) Ray is serving as the 2023 Grand Marshal. Together Roxanne and her husband Robin Le Ray have two children; Chelle Chilcote and Rachel McCullough. Roxanne has worked at Thunderbird for 44 years. At Thunderbird she is an Upholstery Engineer where she creates upholstery patterns, sets up the computer cutter, creates sewing instructions for each unit per boat, and does Up-dates as needed.
Roxanne was a 10-year member of the Blue Creek Township 4-H Club. Since then, she has been the leader of Washington Sequoias for 25+ years. Through this service, she has helped numerous Adams County youth grow and learn from the program. Roxanne, in addition to being a 4-H leader, has also been involved with the program as a 4-H volunteer for over 35 years. During her volunteer time, she has served on 4-H Council holding offices of Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Along with this she served on the Dining Hall Committee for 30+ years where she was the Fair Board representative and caretaker of the Clover Center. This opportunity has allowed Roxanne to change and grow the entire program of 4-H here in our county.
Outside of 4-H Roxanne was the St. Joseph School Girl Scout leader for 10 years. She is also a member of St. Mary Church in Decatur where she is a member of the ministries. Through this she is a Greeter, Extraordinary Minister of Holly Communion at masses and for sick/homebound member of her church.
Over her years of being involved with Adams County 4-H, Roxanne has made some wonderful memories. However, one person that stuck out to her was Mrs. Naomi Becher. Naomi was so giving of her time and talent, sharing with our 4-H club, helping with foods judging and helping Karen Lengerich with judging and setting up the old exhibit building. Roxanne is also thankful for the ladies from Extension Homemakers for all their time spent in the Dining Hall and Clover Center; these ladies did a lot for all of us. Now that Extension Homemakers are a part of the past it is crucial as 4-H Parents, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles that we step up to fill all these Homemakers shoes! 4-H is a program based on adult volunteers so think about what you can do to help. Watching all the kids coming in to show how hard they worked on their project, the pride they take when they talk with the judges, the look on their faces when they come back to the fair and see their final placing and the smiles from kids working in the Clover Center is what the program is all about.
Roxanne Ray will be honored for her years of service to the Adams County 4-H program on Tuesday, July 18th on the stage at the Adams County 4-H Fairgrounds in Monroe immediately following the parade.
