Brooks Construction crews are expected to begin moving into Decatur around July 10 to begin work on a large-scale street resurfacing project.
City Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert told city council at its recent meeting that Brooks’ first steps would be on 52 handicapped ramps, then it will turn to the paving of 12 streets.
The ramp work will likely go through the end of July, with paving to start around the first of August and requiring a couple of weeks or so.
The project has a total construction cost of $1,052,685.26, most of which is funded by the latest state Community Crossings grant acquired by the city.
Decatur’s cost via a matching grant is $263,171.30.
Meanwhile, the city is putting forth $235,365 to pave six alley and two streets.
