(January 6, 1929 – April 8, 2023)

Eugene “Gene” M. Yeoman, 94, of Bluffton, passed away Saturday afternoon, Apr. 8, 2023, at Century Villa Health and Rehabilitation in Greentown.
Gene was born in Jasper County on Jan. 6, 1929, to Andrew M. and Wanda J. (Smith) Yeoman. He married Joann A. Grindle in Rensselaer on Apr. 22, 1950. She preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 2023.
Gene attended high school in Jasper County and owned and operated his own television repair and sales business for many years. He then worked as an auto mechanic, semi-retiring in 2010, after which he went to work at Reed’s Ace Hardware in Bluffton for a few years until fully retiring in 2010.
Hobbies of Gene’s included square and round dancing with his wife Joann, golfing, and walleye fishing on Lake Erie. He especially enjoyed working on his car. Gene was a member of Sonlight Wesleyan Church in Bluffton and a long-time member of the Waynedale Lions Club.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Angie) Yeoman of Bunker Hill; a daughter, Dena (Bill) Byrd of Phil Campbell, AL; two grandsons, Jeremy (Tonya) Putt and Justin (Lindsey) Putt; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nancy Wortley of Louisville, KY, and Patty (Raymond) Murphy of Virgie.
In addition to his wife and parents, Gene was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Yeoman; three brothers, Richard, Howard, and Jim Yeoman; and a sister, Betty Platt.
A private family graveside service will be held at Hoverstock Cemetery in Zanesville with Pastor Lyle Breeding officiating. Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
