The sweet sounds of the Sweetwater All-Stars Thursday night should have brought down the curtain on the Decatur Chamber’s 13-event 2023 Summer Concert Series.
A couple of rainouts, however, changed all that and so the series now rolls into September.
Avalon Bay will bring “yacht rock” music to the Madison St. Plaza next Thursday and E5C4P3, a Journey tribute band, will officially bring down the ’23 series on Thursday, Sept. 21.
Both bands had scheduled performances here wiped out earlier by rain.

In between Avalon Bay and E4C4P3, Adams Health Network (AHN) will bring The Bulldogs back to the Madison St. stage for a performance on Thursday, Sept. 14.
The Bulldogs will perform from 5:30 to 8:30 for AHN’s annual Senior Living Night.
For the Sweetwater gang, Thursday night was their second appearance of the season, having first performed on the plaza some 12 weeks earlier, on June 8.
The popular band turned out another large crowd and had the dance area rockin’ most of the night.

Sweetwater Sound and band founder Chuck Surack delighted the crowd when at one point he moved among those sitting and those dancing while continuing to roll on on his saxophone. (see photo)
