This spring, three students at all three Adams County high schools were awarded a scholarship in memory of Butch and Linda Gilbert.
This is the first-time this scholarship was presented at all three Adams County high schools.

Butch and Linda (Wolfe) Gilbert were married 48 years. They have four children: Beverly, Vernon, Julie, and Jeremy. Butch was a Volunteer Firefighter, a Reserve police officer, a bail bondsman, and he was always supportive of the police department. An impressive community supporter, when Decatur got their first K9, he bought the police-dog its lifesaving vest. Like Butch, this scholarship will be awarded to hard-working, promising learners.

The 2023 Butch Gilbert Scholars were awarded to four vocational students this year throughout Adams County. These were Ian Starewich (AC) who plans to attend UNOH this fall to major in automotive tech, Ashten Miller (NA) who plans to attend Ivy Tech College this fall to major in dental hygiene, and Alejandro Aviles (SA) who plans to attend UNOH this fall to major in welding and Margaret Nussbaum (SA) who plans to attend Ivy Tech College this fall to major in culinary arts.

This fund, endowed in the ACCF, will insure an annual tribute to Butch Gilbert’s community service will be long remembered.
