Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) is pleased to announce that the Decatur Chamber of Commerce was recently awarded a grant for ‘Covering the Stage’.
The Decatur Chamber of Commerce recently received permission from the City of Decatur to construct a permanent roof over the stage area on the west side of the Water Department that overlooks the Riverside Center parking area. This stage area is used for bands during the 4th of July and Callithumpian celebrations.
Craig Coshow, Executive Director of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce, expressed appreciation to the ACCF for support of the project.
Coshow talked with the Bellmont Building Trades instructor to have them build this covering.
Matt Hunter, Building Trades Instructor at BHS, shared: “It was an awesome job for our trades students. Not only did it provide further learning for my students, improving their skills of what they have learned to this point, but it gave them the opportunity to work “under the gun” in front of a large audience on a daily basis. I am very grateful that you gave us the chance to do that.”
Cathy Stucky, ACCF Board member and grants committee co-chair, added that the ACCF is proud to be able to support this covering, which will provide support for the various family-friendly events.
This ACCF grant was made possible through unrestricted fund sponsored by the Dave & Sandy Collier, Doyle & Sara Lu Collier, Richard & Helen Conrad and Patricia ‘Pat’ Steury Community Enrichment funds.
