Sweetwater’s All-Stars brought sweet music and Woodcrest brought over 100 residents for Adams Health Network’s fourth annual Senior Living concert held Thursday on the Madison St. Plaza in Decatur.
In addition to all the Woodcrest folks, the nine-piece rhythm and blues band from Fort Wayne drew, as always in Decatur, an enthusiastic bunch of local followers.

The dance area in front of the stage was busy through most of the three-hour concert – with no less than five folks in wheelchairs taking part at one point!

The weather was some of the best of the concert season on the plaza, although a September chilliness settled in with the passing of the sun.
It was the second Plaza appearance of the All-Stars this year in Decatur and the third in Adams County, including their annual concert at Swiss Days in Berne.

A particular Decatur favorite is vocalist Lisa McDavid who, near the end of the night, told the crowd that the city was one of her choice venues – and it was obvious she was sincere.
Others in the nine-piece band included saxophonist Chuck Surack, a Fort Wayne entrepreneur and Sweetwater Sound founder who formed the band 10 years ago, and trumpeter Brett Kelsey, who has several relatives in the Decatur and Pleasant Mills area – including Decatur Mayor Dan Rickord.
