Joan J. (Ellsworth) Wendel, 89, of Monroe, IN, passed away at 6:38 AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton, IN. She was born on Friday, September 28, 1934, in Portland, IN. Joan married Jack W. Wendel on Sunday, July 6, 1952 in Portland, IN; he preceded her in death on December 19, 2022. Joan was a 1952 graduate of Portland High School. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bryant, IN. Joan had worked at CTS, Ft. Recovery Industries, and EP Graphics. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, and loved attending family sporting events and spending time with her family.

She will be forever missed by her sons – Ronald A. (Joyce) Wendel, The Villages, FL, Donald “Donnie” (Beth) Wendel, Monroe, IN, son in law – Dan Mosier, Willshire, OH, grandchildren – Quentin Berry, Sturgis, MI, Miranda Berry, Monroe, IN, Christopher Wendel, DE, Kimberlee Wendel, West Chester, PA, Shaun Wendel, Carmel, IN, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband – Jack W. Wendel, parents- – Robert “Bob” & Wilma (Roser) Ellsworth, daughter – Sharyl Mosier, son – Stevie J. Wendel, sister – Linda Ellsworth, and brother – Larry Ellsworth.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home located at 100 N Washington Street Geneva on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
A service to celebrate Joan’s life will follow at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home at 7:00 PM on Friday, June 21, 2024 with Rev. Dan Layden officiating.
