
Arlene E. Miller, 84, of Convoy, Ohio, passed away early Monday morning, May 27, 2024, at Envive Heatlhcare of Berne. She was born on June 12, 1939, to the late Alfred “Al” and Agnes (Geary) Arens. She married the late Norman V. Miller on October 31, 1964, he preceded her in death on May 18, 2011.
Arlene was a graduate of New Haven High School in 1958. She worked for the Telephone Company (Indiana Bell). After marrying Norm, she was a homemaker, babysitter and a board member on the food committee for Convoy Ballpark – where she was known for her coney sauce! She also helped Norm and the kids mow the cemeteries for Harrison Township. Arlene worked as a cook at the Tavern in Convoy, Aeroquip in Van Wert and Kmart (Little Ceasars) in Decatur. In her spare time, she helped Norm deliver trucks. Arlene retired from Kmart in 2014.
She liked to garden, raise flowers, enjoyed attending her kids and grandkids ball games. Arlene was known by her family as “The Solar Queen.”
She is survived by her children, Jeff Miller, Jon “Peach” (Sara) Miller and Jackie (Raymond) Sheets all of Convoy, OH, Julie (Doyle) Sheets and Jean Miller both of Decatur, IN; sister, Ann (Joe) Minnich of Hoagland, IN; sister-in-law, June (Art) Krauss of Hoagland, IN; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Fleming; granddaughter, Nicole Sheets; brothers, Alfred “Al” Arens and Anthony “Tony” Arens.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with an hour of visitation before the mass from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Father David Ruppert will be presiding and burial will follow in Kings/Bethlehem Cemetery in Convoy, Ohio.
In Lieu of Flowers, please give to the Cancer Society or St. Mary’s Church.
