Preregistration for Decatur’s upcoming golf cart parade will begin Thursday, June 1, at Riverside Center. The fee is $20 per cart.
Day of registration and staging will be at 9:30 a.m. at Riverside Center. The carts will depart from the center, travel down the Greenway Trail, and wind up on Second St., where Downtown Decatur Days will be going on.
Organizers said it will take approximately 25 minutes to complete the route.
All proceeds will go to Decatur’s Kekionga Project. That project has three components: developing a dog park, renovating the Kekionga Park ball diamond, and stocking the lake near the dog park area.
A state-funded Patronicity program is being set up to raise money. If $50,000 can be raised here during June and July, Patronicity will match that amount. The combined total will be used for the Kekionga Project.
Work on the dog park is continuing, with the existing lights being prepared for operation.
