The local Hero Meals program, which assists North Adams Schools students, recently received a major boost from Adams Health Network’s Employee Philanthropy Committee.
The committee turned over a check for $1,224.60 from the hospital’s Jeans Day Fun. Accompanying photo shows, from left, volunteers Donna Shraluka and Dave Anderson, AHN Foundation Executive Director Kim Trombley, and Employee Philanthropy Committee Chair Loree Sprunger.
Each Friday, employees make a donation which allows them to wear jeans or scrubs that day. A portion of the money is given to a community program such as Hero Meals and the remainder is used to assist Adams Health Network employees in need.
Hero Meals is in its 11th year of assisting families of North Adams Schools students. Volunteers gather each week to pack bags of various food products which are then transported to North Adams Schools for students to take home to their families.
Hero Meals is the fourth organization this year to be aided by the Adams Health Network committee.
