WINCHESTER – Even though their field was too wet to use, the South Adams Lady Starfire softball team finally opened the season Thursday and did so with an 8-4 victory at Winchester.Â
The game was moved to Winchester at the last minute because the South Adams field was still wet from Wednesday’s storms.
The Starfires scored two runs in the first inning and one in the 4th to set the pace of the game, then broke it open with two in the 6th and three more in the 7th. Winchester didn’t score until getting two in the 6th and two more in the 7th…but it was too little and too late.
Shea Albertson was the hitting star for South Adams with four hits as they totaled 13 as a team.
Peyton Pries pitched four innings to get the win. She told WZBD’s Ed Thurman after the game that it was a good start to her senior season…
Again, the Lady Starfires prevailed Thursday by a score of 8-4 over Winchester in their rain-delayed season opener.
